Honey band
« on: August 12, 2023, 10:49:41 pm »
It's my first year trying these Layen's hives. It is interesting to see they way the bees use the frames.
An 8 inch honey honey band over 8 inches of larvae underneath. That's a lot of honey for them to eat through in the winter.

A full Layen's frame of honey weighs 10-12 lbs.
Right now I am still a crush and strain Beek, and will remain so until I move out of my subdivision, although many use an extractor for Layen's frames.

That's what I was thinking, that looks almost like my hives going into winter, except my bees have 2 medium frames instead of one big Layens frame.

Congrats to getting out from under the HOA!  You'll love being able to do whatever you want on your own land.
