Can the frames be salvaged ?
« on: July 13, 2013, 02:53:43 am »
I harvested honey right before foot reconstruction surgery. I asked my wife to turn frames in hive on their side and leave them in sunlight. Well when I got out of the hospital and wheeled myself out I discovered she placed all of the frames in a sealed cardboard box with mothballs. I figure she now has some wax for her candles , my question is are the frames able to be salvaged ? Sand them ,hang them outside on a rope or do I now have odd shaped firewood ? Thanks for your answers

If you harvest the wax, you can reuse the frames.  Just air them out well.

In the future, use moth crystals not moth balls. Me, I would soak the frames in chlorine water for a day then hang in full sun. -Mike
