Frost

Sounds like we may get our first here in Michigan later this week. I'm sure not ready for it and my bee's are loving the goldenrod flow for now.

We had a light frost on September 6th. Killed my squash and melons. The golden rod held up okay, and yes they are working it hard.

My garden isn’t ready for a frost yet, but my bees are :-D

They’re going to be like bugs in a rug in front of a winter fireplace in their insulated foam homes.

I think we are going to dodge frost with this first cold wave. Folks in the valleys may well get a light one if it stays as calm at night as they call for. Mama nature is just giving everybody a warning shot to get their act together! It's hard to remember fall is around the corner when it was 84 yesterday.

With all the rain we had the last few weeks, and the cool evenings, our fall mushrooms have been popping up quite early this year.

After two nights in the 20's our Goldenrod flow is pretty much done up here (had to scrape truck windows the last two mornings).

I don't think we even hit 60 today, maybe tomorrow.  Wild Asters, Mexican bamboo and some other herbs and such in the garden are all my bees are bringing home right now, besides the open feeding I started two weeks ago.

With an earthquake and hurricane in the same week and a tornado in OC Maryland this week, I would not even venture a guess when our first frost will be. Should be in 4-6 weeks, but who knows - maybe this weekend.  :lau:  -Mike

We lucked out with no frost here. I have yet to see any Aster bloom here this year, but with all the Goldenrod bloom I don't think it will be missed.
