left the Queen box in the hive
« on: May 17, 2008, 12:37:23 pm »
Hi, i installed a package this morning and the queen had a few bees in with her, the candy was gone so i just pulled the screen off and shook them all in the brood hive, for some reason i left the queen cage in the hive, i guess it's becomming a natural thing for me to be absent minded the last few yrs.
I didn';t want to bother them any more today, will it be ok to just leave the cage there for a week?? thanks

Don't think it will make much of a difference if you wait a week to pull it out. But that depends on where it was left in the hive. They will probably build some burr comb on it so don't despair just pull it out and make sure you don't take the queen out with it. Good luck with beekeeping.
