I?m going to take an active stance here. I?m going to call out racism when I perceive it. The OP is an obvious racist, by his own terminology. He so enjoyed fooling us with his use of an ?apparently innocuous?, yet racially derogatory term that is popular in his country. He knows it. He calculated the risk, and he used it? exactly as he knows it to be. ?G&T?!

Sorry, not buying it.  There are people who look for and find racism or other isms everywhere.  I have had enough of those tender feelings and the attacks they bring.

We should also remember that we are all from different countries.  There is a term used in Austrailia that would not be used in polite company in the US.  It refers here to a female body region.

I accept his explanation because I read his G&T in the way he meant it.  If someone read it another way, they might need to look at their own perceptions and perhaps remember that we are not all in the same place seeing things the same way.
They are so divorced from their own interests that even when their own security and that of their children is finally compromised, they do not seek to avert the danger themselves but cross their arms and wait for the nation as a whole to come to their aid. Yet as utterly as they sacrifice their own free will, they are no fonder of obedience than anyone else. They submit, it is true, to the whims of a clerk, but no sooner is force removed than they are glad to defy the law as a defeated enemy. Thus one finds them ever wavering between servitude and license.

Maybe since it got to us later than the rest of the world, he could have embraced mask wearing, washing your hands and the fact that it was airborne?
Possibly share the science and the evolution of information?
Ask yourself why wearing a mask is a political statement rather than good hygiene in an era of a pandemic?
Do you think information makes more of less panic?
Did the rest of the world panic or do you think we are more afraid than they are?

Poor decisions make the best stories.
