BBQ Anyone?
« on: June 08, 2020, 09:12:05 pm »
Just got back from Tx last week. Had an Ok brisket there.
I had to make my own today to get the taste out of my mouth.

Dig that brick BBQ pit!  I make do with a pellet smoker.  It works, but I'm sure that good old fashioned pit does it right.  Pretty brisket, are you willing to share your beef rub recipe?
I did a bunch of St. Louis ribs for a family dinner a couple weeks ago.  they came out pretty well, better than the local pit, I think.
Winter is coming.

That was just salt, pepper and garlic salt. I generally just use what?s on hand.

For ribs I usually cheat and use Webber Chicken n Rib Rub, Chipotle Powder and a healthy coat of brown sugar. The brown sugar melts into a dark sticky glaze.

Most recently, I?ve been using MeatEater Beaver Trapper BBQ Rub. Is really good.

I don?t have a go to,all home made recipe.

The best smoked turkey is a maple syrup brine with a maple glaze.

Oh this thread is making me hungry.  I LOVE smoked meat of all kinds!  My parents have pork butt down, but still trying to perfect the brisket.

Mmmmmm! 30 - I need some smoking lessons from you!

I'd love to learn to smoke meats properly. That all looks finger-lickin'-good!

That really looks good 30. I bet some of JurassicApiary smoked salt would add even more pizazz to it!

Never tried smoked salt. I could see where it could be interesting.

I did smoke coffee beans. They only need a few minutes of smoke, then you add a few beans to the regular beans as they go in the grinder or else it?s too much smoke. A little smoke is reminiscent of sitting around a campfire on a cool morning.

BF, you?re right,
it would go awesome with this!

30, I smoke the salt for 12 hours.  I posted about it as well as simple instructions in the Farm & Country Life section here:
