Thanksgiving Snow?
« on: November 21, 2019, 06:21:16 pm »
Here in the pacific northwest we don't get much snow if any but this year may be different. Last February was a monster snow storm with three feet in some spots. This year might be the year of another one. I was looking at forecast models and a lot of them suggest snow next week and I have let the bees go on their own since last month. Then I remembered, ventilation boards. I completely forgot to get them. I went to check and all the hives were bustling but there was a bunch of water on the cover. I'm glad the bees are still okay but i need to order ventilation boards before the temps start going below 30 (again unheard of around here) I was going to get them around thanksgiving but I will have to get them a bit earlier.

When it hits 30 the air dries out.  It is between 40-50 where moisture is the biggest problem.  Cold and damp for the bees and they cannot fan the hive.
