Fascism: One step away from Neo-Con Republicism, Neo-Con Republicism: One step away from Rightist Cons. ie The market decides if you live or die.
Socialism: Not communism; An element of compassion that supports people who cannot look after themselves but expects everyone to contribute for the greater good.
I am thinking this is my fault for not being clear in what I was asking. What specific economic and social tenets of fascism and socialism, as we have seen them in practice, are different?
Capitalism is neither right or left. Capitalism is simply people providing to others what those others want or need and are willing to pay for. The market decides whether or not the person providing those goods and services is successful.
The safety net that most countries provide in varying degrees is a component of socialism. It is taking from one and giving to another. A fully socialist economy depends on full government control of the means of production and the distribution of goods. There is very little difference in either the implementation or the outcome with communism.
The reason socialist countries like Venezuela end up looking like the USSR is that it is the natural progression of government control. The more things go wrong the more the government needs to step in and control.
If you read Lennen, he often talked about socialism and Social-Democrats. He also talked about "Democracy".
You might find this interesting and you may have even heard something like it lately.
