Scott, country people say night when they mean evening when discussing hunting.
I've heard it mentioned this way countless times, seems odd but that's the way it is.
Of course they also say "acren" instead of "acorn" and "crick" instead of "creek".
You have to know the lingo to keep up. ;)
Tonight's hunt (this evening) was very cool!
I hunted out of the attic of a barn with hay bails all around. Used them as lazy chairs.
Iddee got there about a half hour after I did, so we both hunted from the barn, he on one end me on the other.
Wasn't long after we set up a yearling came out, followed by a good sized doe.
Iddee got my attention and I got in position for a shot, about 100 yards out.
He was kind enough to let me have the opportunity to take the deer.
Well folks, wish I can give you a happy result, albeit the hunt was exciting, I had a trigger problem with my gun and it did not go off, at first, but then it did overhead, a delayed reaction.
Never, ever had this happen before but alas you can rest assured I took that sucker apart and gave it a thorough cleaning tonight.
Its chambering as smooth as silk now and the trigger is firing every time.
So what happened? I ain't cleaned my gun in about a year and it was a little dirty, could kick myself but oh well, that's why its called hunting.
BTW, right after the episode my buddy Iddee ragged me fiercely about what a piece of junk gun I had, that I needed a new one!
Well, that's what I'm sure he was thinkin' anyway! :-D
Tomorrow is a new day, hopefully no more bad news bears hunting stories. :-D
