This is what I am making for Christmas Gifts!!!
« on: November 29, 2008, 04:31:39 pm »
See below the photos of my current projects. I am making skin creams and lotion bars to give as Christmas gifts. This has been so, so much fun to do.

This is a lotion bar that I poured into a mold I purchased in Sacramento. I saw this recipe in the backyard beekeeping book but I changed the recipe.

This is hand cream out of recipes I played around with. This is very smooth and wonderful for the hands. Guess I should open up the cover so you all can see inside

There we are, another sort of tin I use for the creams. You can clearly see it looks like butter.

This is a mold I purchased from Glory Bees. Also a lotion bar that you soften between your hands.

Annette,

That molded beeswax lotion bar is absolutely gorgeous.  Do you have enough extra to sell some?  Could you PM me if you do?

I aspire to someday be able to make something that beautiful.

Thanks dear people for the comments. I am just loving doing all this, but I have to say that it has been very expensive for the supplies. I already used up all my beeswax and now I am buying this also. Whatever, It keeps me out of trouble!!

Annette, wow!!!  Now you go and give yourself a great pat on the back, you have worked so hard, I can barely imagine what you have been doing to get things to look so good.  Yep, as JP said, first class work!!!  Your recipients will be ever so grateful for those beautiful talents that you possess.  Have a great, wonderful day, Cindi

Thank you for the kind words. I am just doing this for fun right now, although I have sold a lot just before Christmas. People have just been coming to me when they want to purchase something. I have not gone out of my way to sell anything to anyone. I am constantly experimenting with different formula's and having fun doing that.

I opened up the website you posted above, but I do not see that article you were mentioning. It looks like it may have changed.

Take care
Annette

SCroll down through the "video news" - it's down there - it's an article about the woman who connected with Burt of Burt's Bees and made a fortune.

OK I found it. Wow what a website. I will have to get back to it and check out everything.

Yes that is an amazing story about Burts Bees. You know I have to mention this, that the natural cosmetics I have been making without any chemical preservatives have gotten a much bigger response than I would have imagined. And it is not because I made such unbelievable products. From what I am reading and hearing, women are fed up with the mass produced cosmetics out on the market and are looking for natural products that are good for the skin. So if anyone wants to start up a serious business right now producing really pure cosmetics without all the horrible preservatives, this seems to be the time to do it.

Since I started this venture with the cosmetics, (I have made, lipbalms, hand creams, body butter and healing balms) I have been looking around the stores to see what kind of ingredients are put into most of the creams and lotions on the market. What a shock to see so many chemicals that are introduced into products that are absorbed into the skin. I will never go back to purchasing any of that stuff anymore.

Thank you for sharing this story with me. I truly believe that women was correct when she said you just have to believe you can do it.

Sincerely
Annette

Annette, OK, my dear girlfriend.  YOu know that there is going to come a time that you are going to have to offer a little course to us girls that would love to learn your little tricks of your trade, smiling.  You ought to pat yourself on the back, and I hope that you can make some pocket change to pay for the output of the stuff it takes to get your product to the world.  Good luck, you are cool!!!  Have that wonderful and most awesome day, life, health.  Cindi

You have given me a great idea Seth. I have a friend designing another logo for me and maybe she can place the red umbrella over the bee. Like having the bee holding the umbrella. I will find out.

My logo, if I ever go there, is going to be a drawing my father made of a bee holding a bucket...a honey bucket.  The double entrandre just kills me.
