Could a top entrance be used to slow the shb life cycle?

seems it would have pretty much the same effect as the "pipe" entrance USDA came up with.
If the larvae drop to the bottom board as suggested then that may have some effect.
The bottom oil pan serves as the death trap. Mine was loaded with adult beetles and larvae.
My only problem was not tending to the oil pan on a regular basis. "dumb me."
I know now. :'( :)doak
