Fake swarm!
« on: June 16, 2008, 11:17:29 pm »
I got a call today from my mom panicking that the bees are swarming. Ok no problems, left work and came home to find about a thousand worker bees climbing to the exterior deep walls and taking off in orientation flights! up & down left right & sideways then land and do it again. I think that most of the older forager bees that came with the package are now gone to "bee heaven" because of old age, the middle aged bees who tended the brood are now leaving the brood to the younger bees a week to 10 days old and replacing their forager bee losses by joining the force.  After four hours they all went back in and rain came down! The bees are now mining my 40 Squash plants for pollen! However, the Bumble bees are pollinating the 70 tomatoes plants. I can't wait until the cucumber, string beans & eggplant beds bloom so my worker can work them too.  For some strange reasons Bee's do not like tomatoes flowers.

-Any way, all is well with the world  :-D!
