What Skeggley means is that if you can see brood in all stages that is eggs, larvae, pupae, capped brood, you are all good. She is in there somewhere doing her job.
New beekeepers fuss too much about finding the queen to the detriment of the hive and possibly killing her through accidentally dropping a frame.
Like I said if you can see brood in all stages don't worry about looking for her. The hive is good.
