Propolis problem
« on: November 09, 2013, 10:30:44 pm »
I use inverted 5qt buckets to feed my colonies. It's nothing I haven't learned to deal with but I was just wondering if there was some method to keep the bees from propolizing the holes in the lid?

Not that I know of. I noticed that some of mine did the same when the feeder got emptied. Was there syrup left when they closed them up?

Yes there was s small amount of syrup in some others were empty. They also propolize the bucket lid to the inner cover.  Not really a problem. I simply rod out the holes. I was simply curious.
