honey removal

hello everyone,what is the best/easiest way to get bees out of the super to get the honey out.i am doing the pull one frame out and brush bees back in hive method right now.leaf blower is possibility.i have never used fume board but everyone i have talked to said that liquid you put on there is nasty.any suggestions.

carry an empty super, a cover and a bee brush. take out the honey frames, shake and/or brush the bees off then place the frames in the empty super and cover it

i have used a fume board.  the stuff does stink, but to clear multiple supers it sure is fast.  i remove the honey super and place it at an angle over an empty super or extra BB.  i place fume board and they clear out the bottom in short order.

for just a few frames, what you are doing is probably the easiest.

I turn the supers on end on top of the hive and blow the bees out with a power blower. Works great for me. I have used this method several times now and it does not seem to harm the bees.

I place them on their side with the top facing the back of the hive. I blow the bees toward the front of the hive.

I use a product called "bee quick" on my fume board.  It works slower than the stinky stuff, but it smells like almond extract.  It has worked well for me.

ditto on most of what is done.  For me, frame by frame is a real pain in the keister with more than 1 or 2 supers.

I use bee quick to get most of the bees out, then use my shop vac hooked up to the blower side for the stragglers.  It goes pretty quick.  Then they sit in the dark garage(with 1 window) for a little while, that gets all but a few out.

Bee quick is mostly all organic and natural and doesn't smell too bad, but will burn your eyes if you rub them, because of the oils.

I like the shop vac too because then I can stick the blower in my sleeve and get all cooled off on a hot day :-D

Catfish, I would only use a fume board with beequick, bee go and honey robber are disgustingly bad smelling products.

Bee-Quick smells like Almonds w/amaretto (sort of). It dosent stink but will get a little nasaues sweet @ times. Will burn on skin but is suppose to be all natural. Honey Robber and Bee Go smell like vomit. And if married your wife will question you when you come I the house, if she even lets you by the door. Not always a bad thing :roll:.  You make the decision :-D!

There are supply issues w/bee-quick that have been promised to be resoved soon (bottling issues). It seems to work a little slower at times but this is true of all the products, Some have even suggested putting some rags in an old smoker put beequick on them and puff it through the supers to remove stubborn bees. Clean all the ash out first of course and clean the smoker good!
