How long do I wait to ck. hived swarm?
« on: June 06, 2008, 08:58:41 am »
How long do I have to wait to see what my hived swarm is doing?  Is there a queen?  Is she mated?  The waiting is very hard on me. LOL.

Thanks,
Dave

I usually wait a week. If it's a primary swarm, the queen is the old one, she will be mated already, it just might take some time for her to ramp up production again. If it's a secondary swarm with a virgin queen, it will take a while before she starts laying.

Thanks for the replies.  I guess I can handle waiting a few more days.

Checked my swarm hive today.  Everything is going great.  Saw the queen.  Saw eggs and they have about 3-4 frames of comb built.
