Is it ok to use varnish/ (urathane) on the OUTSIDE of the beehive? Just want to check before I use it in the morning - its a new hive and the bees are not in it yet.

I've painted with urethane with no problems. Just give it time to dry well so it's not giving off vapors any more before using.Couple of days is okay!
