Nice little hive. Question from a newbie, Does the tin on the ground have another reason other than helping stop grass growth? Jimmy

I had a problem with bull ants last year. I lost 5 hives to them. I put down the tin to keep the grass away from the stand so that they could not make a bridge. The legs of the stand are in buckets of water and used cooking oil.
