Not really but thus far, I haven't heard any reports of widespread serious damage or death.

nothing on deaths yet but a lot of damage.  There were fires, collapsed homes/buildings, and tsunami damage.  I guess they were trying to get some folks out of buildings.  Good thing might be the time of day and the day this has happened. 

If you search on Twitter for Japan Earthquake, there are tons of good videos.

I am seeing some reports now. Given the intensity of the quake, they faired pretty well. I am lucky were I am in respect to natural disasters. We get occasional quakes that are small, hurricanes come through every couple of years but we're inland and  it's always the tail and often reduced to a tropical depression and tornadoes are even rarer and are small and generally hit sparsely populated areas. Our tornadoes apparently don't like trailer parks.
