Title: Shroomers
Post by: tefer2 on April 06, 2014, 11:20:23 am
You can tell that spring has finally arrived around these parts.
We found about three dozen morels poking their heads out of the ground yesterday.
Does seems strange with all the snow piles still around.
Now, if I can just harvest some before the critters eat them up! :th_thumbsupup:

Our local brew club had a english brown comp. yesterday.  After it was done we sit around and talk beer and do alot of sampling of things members have made.  One of my friends brought a morel mushroom brew.  Very good!!!  Mushrooms didn't jump out at you but it had a over all earthy taste

I'm going back out this morning and place some tomato cages around some morels.
That way I'll be sure and get me some too!

I was amazed that they were coming up this early.
Must have something to do with all the moisture from heavy snow fall.
Wife thought I was crazy when I said, look at the morels.

Don't know what the yellow pollen was, they looked like they had been rolling around in it.
Most had maple pollen though. Any color is good for me!

Some varmint ate all my shrooms. This was even after I tried to protect those tasty treats.
