Title: Travel holes in plastic foundation
Post by: Lone on April 30, 2013, 01:54:38 am
Hello,

I had to change bee gear supplier, and have just received a different brand of black plastic foundation.  The old ones had snap off corners.  These are a firmer plastic but have no shortcut hole for the bees.  I don't know what the technical name for this hole is, but hopefully you get the picture  :)

Should we cut off one or two corners at the bottom of the foundation?

Thanks,

Lone

IMO, it really doesn't matter.  If they are scored, I break them out.  Otherwise I don't worry about it.

I believe the technical name is communication holes.  Or anyway thats what I have been told in the past.  Did you ever notice that after a couple of years those communication holes get covered with wax comb?

I used to be concerned with snapping off corners.  I do not waste my time with it anymore.  It does not matter.

When I use real wax, mine always make communication holes at the ends.
May be it's a hidden shortcut?  :brian:
