Title: Where are your bees foraging?
Post by: Grandpa Jim on May 14, 2012, 03:22:38 am
Find your apiary on the map...Double click to mark it and you will see the foraging range of your bees from that yard in miles or Km.

I guess I failed the intelligence test one more time!  Oh well, I keep learning what I don't know how to do and thats important too!

Pretty neat.  Nothing you couldn't do with a printed map and a ruler of course, but still helpful.  I always wondered if my bees could reach a large hayfield North of our property.  Turns out this is only about 1.5 miles away as the bee flies - much closer than I thought!

Thanks Grandpa Jim! I always wanted to check on the possible areas my bees had to forage but I never took the time (or forgot) to look it up on a map.
Thanks to you, now I know.

Thanks Jim that is really helpful especially when you can flip over to hybrid view and get an idea what else is in the area.

That is pretty cool! Thanks for sharing it.

I'm a little concerned now though, because I see my bees will possibly forage in either the Walmart or Canadian Tire Garden Centres 2 kms from the hives. Does anyone know if they spray insecticides or pesticides or is this left up to the consumer?
