Here in Hawaii we can't buy queens any longer. We have to start our own. You folk gave me some good advice on splitting a hive to get a new queen. It worked well, thanks. It would have been a bit harder without the advise. There aren't many beekeepers who are willing to mentor.

There is tons of queen producers in HA.

I don't know where HA is. If you mean Hawaii it is HI. Yes there are two main producers in HI. However since the found small hive beetle on the island where the queens are, they are not allowed to ship to other islands. Some of us are learning how to set up a queen rearing operation.
