Title: Bee Crochet
Post by: The15thMember on May 24, 2021, 07:15:06 pm
For a birthday present this year my sister crocheted me the life cycle of a honey bee.  She wrapped them up individually in a large box, so as I opened them smallest to largest all the different stages were revealed.  They are so cute and extremely accurate!

I know, right!  My sister is a great artist, and she usually draws me something for my birthday (I have her artwork all over my walls; I am her biggest fan), but she surprised me by going a different route this year.  She has crocheted me things before, but nothing like this!

Member,
My daughter is an artist.
Here is some of her work:

They are 8? tall, 4? wide and 4? deep. These pictures were taken the night of our luau.
They will end up at a new Hawaiian restaurant.

Here they are on my trailer in daylight:

They weigh about 350 pounds each.

Here is a painting she did in college, it is now on my dining room wall:

It is from a picture of the Panama Lake and a picture from inside of Panamanian home put together. She went to Panama during her senior year.

Nice! Do have to ask if she has ever watched the movie Night at the Museum?

If so, let me be the first to say "hey dumdum you got gumgum"

The day we stood them up here at the farm, that was repeated over and over.
If you ever go to Firehouse Subs, she probably had a part in painting it. She painted most of the picture of the Macclenney FL Firehouse Subs and her boss let her sign that picture next to his signature.

Okay, these are awesome!  What are they made out of?

My sister has dabbled in most every kind of art and she's particularly into yarncraft right now.  She's even started spinning her own yarn, which is super cool.  The thing she has done most consistently over her life though is draw.  She particularly likes to draw fictional people and places.  She frequently draws portraits of people's favorite characters and gives them as birthday gifts.

She did Mr. Spock for me a few years ago.

Here is Darth Vader for my sister who loves Star Wars.

And this one is actually a watercolor of some characters from Watership Down.

She also does these really cool pen sketch landscapes.
Here is Minas Tirith from Lord of the Rings.  I watched her draw this one and it was amazing!  I don't know how she knows where to put the lines!

And this is the Carrock from The Hobbit.

Me neither!  I'm one of the least artistic members of my family.

You can add me to that group. Couldn't draw if I needed to.

Your sister has some amazing talent 15th!
