Good Place to Buy Plastic Honey Jars?
« on: November 25, 2024, 08:11:55 pm »
My sister is starting a small business selling products that we produce here on our farm, and she'd like to purchase some plastic jars to ship honey to customers.  She's looking for 16 oz. jars, but she's kind of surprised at how expensive they are once you factor in shipping, and she'd prefer not to have to buy like 250 since she's just starting out.  Anyone have any recommendations on places to get a reasonable number of plastic jars for a reasonable price?

You are right about shipping glass containers and shipping prices. I remember Max2 discussing glass vs plastic not very long ago.

Have you checked on fleabay? That's my go-to when it comes to things like that. You/she should be able to find as many or as few as you want.

I don't know where he gets them, but I buy Cowboy Chutney from Kent Rollins about a dozen jars at a time and they come in glass jars in these cardboard/paper mache' looking holders.  None have ever shown up broken.  All jars are expensive.

She's actually looking for something that isn't a typical honey container.  She had her eye on these short cylindrical pints with black lids, but the price went up so now she's shopping around some more.

That's not a bad idea, because people probably would be selling smaller quantities.

Our concern with glass isn't only the potential for breakage but the weight.  She'd like to keep the shipping as low as possible for her customers.
