Hello from Poland
« on: May 16, 2016, 09:22:14 am »
Hello!
It's my first year in beekeeping, but very intensive. Together with my brother we had bought 20 beehives with colonies on 4-6 Dadant frames and next 5 for one friend, which is not interested in beekeeping, but very much in honey - and he offered us our first place for beeyard. So in fact we begun with 25 beehives without any tutorial, at the beginning of the April. In Central Poland (south suburbia of Warsaw and further to the south) it was still pretty cool out there.
Now we have already 28 our beehives (swarm splits) and soon it will be more of them. Our plan is to go to the winter with at least 40-50 colonies. I learn fast (read books, consult with local beekeepers and finally found a mentor/tutor) and last Sunday I made my first grafting. No hope they will be accepted, but why not to try again?
What a great fun!

Welcome, Is this the first year for both of you?
