Title: Oxalic Acid Vapor and Crush and Strain Harvest
Post by: seanconnery on December 04, 2018, 12:15:30 pm
Does honey harvested using crush and strain after using Oxalic Acid Vaporizer have a discernible taste? Is there a way of applying OAV so that its effect is minimized? (isolate bars of comb honey with a follower board?)

You should never treat your hives with anything while the honey supers are on. At a minimum with OAV, you should pull the supers off, do the treatment and after it clears, replace the supers.

Jim is correct. Pull supers, treat, replace supers. Nice & neat with no problems.

Looks to me like the question related to top bar hives, in which case there are no supers, but the same principle would apply -- remove honey combs into temporary storage, treat and return the top bars with honey to the hive.  Just get the honey away from the area being treated.
