Multiple cutouts in single house
« on: June 02, 2015, 09:41:23 am »
I got a call a few weeks ago about bees in the wall of an old abandoned house. The owner of the property wanted the bees out because he feared getting stung again. I got a couple of friends to come along on the job. There were three colonies in the front of the house. Long day. Hard work. Got all three queens. It's like winning the lottery when you find that queen and catch her.

I didn't charge the man for the cutouts. This is my last free cutout, unless there is someone who simply can't afford it. My rationale for doing so many cutouts has been solid. I wanted more bees. I wanted feral stock. In 3 years I have built up to 30 hives. Now I can slow down and make splits for increase from a widely varied stock. I will continue to set swarm traps, and go on swarm calls.

Thanks to those on this site, among others, who have given me good guidance and advice. Let's keep it up.
