I'm picturing this as more of a swarm trap?

This beehive looks like the ancient Minoan's beehive called vraskie or flaskie. In my land in Crete, the beekeepers use this type of beehive until the '70s. I have a replica. I post a link with photo of this beehive in a Ctetan bee yard.
