Notifying specific member of new subject
« on: December 21, 2023, 12:54:02 am »
I'm wondering if there is a way to notify another member regarding a specific question I might have, as there is in Facebook.

For instance, on Facebook, I might comment and add @John Doe, and John Doe would be notified of my post or comment. Is that possible on this forum?

Not to my knowledge, but you can always PM them and give them a heads-up.
Someone really ought to tell them that the world of Ayn Rand?s novel was not meant to be aspirational.

Tagging is probably something we should look into adding sometime in the future, since we've had several requests for it.  Second only to requests for a "Like" button.

Phillip,
I don?t think members see the Send This Topic because it requires an email address which members don?t see.

Thank you. No, I can't see a "Share this topic" option.

Yes, a PM would be an obvious solution but not nearly as good as an @tag, like Facebook and other fora use.

Yes, I would also like to see "Like" buttons, along with at "tag" function. 😊

It looks like the "Like" feature is available as a modification. See
https://custom.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=3708

Someone mentioned that member "tagging" was available in previous versions. Not sure it's available as a mod now. Here's a discussion on the feature:
