There are companies that do Gama Ray sterilization.  I have seen videos of bee hives being treated, I don't know much about this but I thought I would throw this out and see if there are Beeks that have experience with Gamma treatments on hives.  This also kills all organisms including spores.

"cost effective"...  and on that wave ride the boards of soft policy makers.

Accepting handling issues can be covered... by the time hardware is
cleaned, dismantled, repacked for saturation, to then be reassembled,
the beekeeper could pay for new equipment at a lower cost in dollars.

No, "cost" has to be revisited in framing a fix, so repeating the same
approach as a philosophy which led to VD mite taking hold of the
Americas is simply following a line proven not to work.

Eltalia,
What about the time and honey lost for the bees to make all new wax. That has to be included in the cost as well as the time to assemble all of the frames and equipment.
I suspect if the state picks up and returns the equipment, you would be way ahead.

Heh... my summation throws all that money in the same bin the original
bee resources get thrown into, Jim.
The latest (read) on the Mackay outbreak is asking for voluntary sampling
of honey stores to be submitted for AFB testing. Good luck to that happening
is all I would say.

Pickup?
Any process would require the regulator to handle it, packing inclusive.
Descriptions of packing for irradiation in Canberra last year illustrate well
each individual b'keep has their own values on what constitutes hygiene in
a contamination process.
None of that cost (process) would be excluded from State charges.

I think you can expect that Van because of the commercial activity for bees in CA.

Been quiet as a doormouse Van.. not a peep from that quarter by phone
or by mail, not unusual in these things.
Another 12 days or so should bring news, if anyone speaks up.
There is the real problem as our authorities have State powers, like more
Rights than State police, and in my experience are a rough(heavy handed)
lot in communication, so those who know know to tread carefully around these
things.
Like, could be paranoia but someone from a departmental desk has been
sniffing around my LinkedIn profile in recent days. Heh heh.... good luck to
'em with That!
