I got a hold of some bitter weed honey this past weekend. It is named well.

Tried some of that at the Georgia Beekeepers Association meeting this past weekend. Makes you wanna hock a loogie. :-P

Same jar, Richard. That came from from one of Tom Bonnell's hives he passed it on to me. There's something weird about it like I want to start a collection of the worst tasting honeys from around the world. Either that or slip it in on a black jar contest.
Believe it or not Tom and I heard quite a few "not bad" comments so I suspect not everyone can taste the bitterness.

Leafy Spurge honey is nasty. I tried some 3 years ago and still have an after taste.

I got some this spring that was blacker than the oil in my truck but did not taste as good. Them bees must have been slumming.

Don't know but have heard the rag weed honey is black. When we use to milk a cow or two and they got into bitter weeds you could smell it and taste it in the milk. Would try to have them bush hogged before cows were put in that field.

Funny thing is, the hive just inches from the hive that produced the dark honey gave the lightest and tastiest honey to date. They were truly polar opposites.
