My Varroa and SHB counts are down this year! Alright!
« on: August 22, 2014, 02:06:58 am »
Well for the first time in a long time I finally have some low counts on both Varroa and SHB in my bee yards. What a relief. Just finished going through all my hives in Iowa and Minnesota pulling honey off and extracting done and counts checked and meds on the hives. ye honey stores look good and thanks to a relatively nice Summer the bees don't seem to be stressed in my yards as well. I think what helped me a lot is moving to screened bottom boards this year which I've never used in 20 years of beekeeping. So far I'm glad I tried them at last, I think I should've used them long ago.

Congratulations Rgr.
Have you ever tried adding screen top boards?
