Child size protective clothing
« on: August 26, 2006, 08:50:14 pm »
The grandchildren age 4 and 6 are very interested in working the bees. We have allowed them into the truck cab to watch us but this motivates them even more to get into a hive. Big problem is child size bee suits. They are available but are very expensive for something which will be out grown in a year. Has anyone sewn child size bee suits or adapted other types of clothing for use? Are their child size gloves? Any suggestions would be welcomed as we have a couple of highly motivated future beekeepers that we want to be safe when they look into their first hive.

Most child beesuites are a seperate top and pants.  You pull the pants up high and the elastic keeps them from tripping on the pant legs.  Same for the sleeves.  You should be able to keep them in the same suit from about four until they are about eight, I'd guess.
