Title: Theft proofing (no such thing) a Parmak energizer
Post by: rast on August 22, 2020, 04:56:43 pm
I have put up a bear fence due to their proximity of late. I bought the Parmak 12 Solar model, mounted on a 4x4 post. Does anyone have any suggestions on making it difficult to steal off the post. It mounts by slipping down over 2 screw heads on the back side. I know they sell a locking mount for a t-post, but most 12 year olds can pull up a t-post in this sand and concrete is not an option. Just hoping someone else has put some thought in this.

Rast I don't know how you would keep a thief from stealing your charger and shocker system. I am wondering if you can install a tracking chip inside, at least if someone does steal it you can recover it and catch the thieves? I do not know if this is practical either.

Rast,
Add a piece of treated 2x4x8? screwed to the bottom of your 4x4. Pack it real tight. Bury it 3 feet deep. That post cannot be pulled by hand.

Thanks for the suggestions, it's all moot right now. I get the one that does not work out of the box (and yes the battery was fully charged). The individual I spoke too in the warranty dept did not leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling either, acted like he couldn't care less. Cost me $48 to ship it back.

First, I would tell them they could send a call tag, and call my credit card company and get a refund.
Then when you get a working one, do as Jim said, then drive a couple long nails into the 4X4 at the top of the unit so it cannot be lifted off the screws.

I did not buy it from Parmak direct. I "saved" $60 on ebay.

Did you use PayPal? If so, contact them. They may refund your money.

Yes Jim, but I already shipped it back, I need it. Bear got some hives appx 2 miles away Tues night. A friend loaned me an energizer.

Parmak has been nothing but excellent on customer service and their units.
18k on test meter solar12
Try getting that with the rest of the crap that's out there. Lucky to get 8k on most.

Rast,
It may have been a really bad day for him. You never know what may happening in people?s lives when we are dealing with them. It could have been something devastating and he still had to go to work.

I had to send one back.
7 - 10 day door to door turnaround.
If warranty i pay shipping one way. If not 60 bucks plus 1 way shipping.

Did you buy this one on ebay?

I just read you got it from ebay and saved 60 bucks. Well there goes your 60 bucks to pay for the new circuit board.
Still they come back perfect.
