Still winter.....

Well, it's now not cold anymore, but I want it a bit warmer before I delve into the hives. 14 deg C for a time today. Hives flying well with plenty of pollen coming in. They are still taking candy - I don't tend to feed syrup in general in the spring as it can get them too carried away which can haunt you if it then goes cold for a couple of weeks, but I might try one hive this year and see what happens.

Been busy on the building front too - 2 large hive stands built and also nearly finished a bee-vac. I decided to go for the type that uses an altered floorboard, cover screen and a top box that will have a standard brood chamber between instead of using the type with an inner and outer box (cheaper I figure!)

Suction will be provided by a donated 'Henry' type hoover.

Now just need to get a few more 14x12 brood boxes !
