Anyone produce custom labels?
« on: January 07, 2009, 08:15:00 am »
I have never made my own labels. For honey, I started with a label from the bee mags and have always stuck with that.

But I need some custom sizes. Is there anyone you can recommend? Or is there a program or label product on the market that makes it easy. I have all kind of funky graphic and design programs in the computer that someone else loaded, but never played around with it. Although I would like a custom one of a kind label. Any suggestions?

I use Avery DesignPro
http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/Templates-&-Software/Software/Avery-DesignPro-for-PC.htm

It is a free download.  Although it is set up with all the Avery label numbers,  it does allow you to create custom size labels, which is what I do.  I created a custom size to fit each of the containers I use.

I use the Techno River Studio.  http://www.technoriversoft.com/downloads.html It works good and is easy to get around in. The only problem I have is that it is a major pain to put a border on the label and get it to print on the label correctly. So if you want a border probably look for another program.

If you need a place to buy labels check out http://www.onlinelabels.com/ They ship fast and the labels are good.

Robo stole my thundred Avery is awesome - about 100+ megs big but it has a very interactive and clever art studio feel and works with every label they produce. Really fine program. Thanks Rob  :'(

I have been using the "onlinelabels.com" program. When you purchase the labels from them, the program is free to use. And their labels are unbelievable. The waterproof labels are truly waterproof. I had a friend slap them onto both his hands and then he rubbed them together under water. The labels were in perfect condition even after all that rubbing.

But I do use a color laser printer. The inkjet worked really well also, except when I placed the jar with label into the frig. then the label seemed to bleed a bit.

It is not a program where you can do very much, but you can download your own design and format it into any size label.

Good Luck

My honey labels target the tourist industy here which I use the Ludington lighthouse as a background.  Its kind of a icon for ludington and really stands out on the shelf.  My company is Ludington Honey.  Even the locals will grab mine over the rest

amysbeelabels@hotmail.com

Absolutly fabulous work. Her labels are some of the best I have seen. They are by far the best for the price. She makes labels in standard sizes as well as custom sizes. She has  several predrawn labels and will customize anyone of her current labels or create a completely new label for you. She has business cards and refrigerator magnets that match your labels. She does not have a website but if you shoot her an email she promptly sends you a flier and a batch of samples.

I highly recommend her as her work is really great.
