peach syrup?
« on: April 17, 2020, 03:37:24 pm »
Hi everybody

every summer I can my own peaches in syrup. I put them in mason jars and process them, and they are my go-to treat in the winter. Any idea if I can feed the syrup to the bees? Again this is made by me, just water, sugar and peaches (washed and peeled so probably no pesticides residues).

Thanks
Rosario

My uncle owned 30 hives, and he said the bees loved grapes. At the end of the season for grapes when they're so ripe the remaining grapes begin to burst he said the bees would clean them up. They say usually the flower tastes like the fruit and they pollinate peaches.

I wouldn't have an issue giving it too my bees, as its optional to them to use it. If it's waste I'd give it too them though, I read an article explaining why straight sucrose in a syrup is best, the additional vitamins and minerals they need would come other sources like pollen.
