New, from Central Ohio
« on: July 21, 2007, 02:32:10 am »
Hello, my name is Bob, I have just started keeping bees this year, I have set up three hives from packaged bees I lost two of them due to a cold snap the day after I hived them, but was able to get more bees a few weeks later, all three are doing good, the original hive that made it through the cold is doing the best, it has been alot of fun so far, and I hope to learn alot from this website, I have been feeding all three hives continuously with 1:1 sugar water and they have kept building combs, one has 2 deep and 1 med filled and the other two have two deep and will receive 1 med each this weekend.

Welcome to the board, there is a wealth of backgrounds and experiece on here. One of the first things you will hear is to stop feeding them. most are of the opinion that they do better on there own.

I've taken the feeders off all three hives and it seems like they are not building as fast as before I took them off I will wait a couple weeks and see what happens. I also propped up the outer cover for ventilation and as a top entrance/exit.
