Yikes another one. She's a carbon copy of the Texas Bee Removal girl who pioneered this whole ridiculous glamourized bee removal. Toddler talk, hair down and no PPE. Very misleading, quite unsafe, and totally unrealistic. But it gets lots of clicks!!

What ever her motivation and whatever her style, she does get the job done. Beekeepers come in a variety of styles. This is hers. I am sure there is a audience to her channel which likes her style.

Now; No doubt she receives her share of stings as well as JP and Schawee; And there is not much glamor in that in my opinion! lol  But for fun, JP and Shawee pick at each other about that and anything else that might pop in their minds!  :cheesy:
Educational as well as entertaining.

just for the heck of it, I typed "beekeeping bikini" into YouTube search and there was one !  :cheesy:
(dunno why I was surprised, given the times)

but, the Texas tomato ranks higher as the better babilicious bee bunny, imo. It ain't all in the clothes, or lack thereof.
and "beekeeping lingerie" didn't yield any good results ... well ... not any that would be on topic or allowed here, anyway :cheesy:

What do you mean Very misleading and totally unrealistic?
I probably did a hundred or so removals. Mostly wearing a T shirt and jeans. Way too hot down here to bee able to work for hours in a bee jacket and veil.

Yeah, but I bet you don't have long hair!  :cheesy:  I don't want to speak for Austin, but I don't think it's unrealistic in the sense that she isn't really doing it, just that it makes people assume things about bees and bee removals that aren't necessarily accurate, especially because she isn't showing the whole process.  Not everyone should crack open a bee hive with no protective equipment, and not every bee hive would respond well to it, and unfortunately that's what a lot of people on social media might assume from seeing something like that scroll by in their feed without any context.  I did see her wearing a jacket or a veil in other videos to be fair.  But seriously, I don't know how on earth she can stand having her hair down like that while she's working and how bees are not constantly getting tangled in her hair.  My hair is a little bit longer than hers, and I always have to be careful when I'm around the hives if I have it down.  It's probably the number one cause of my getting stung when I'm in the apiary but not inspecting.  I always put it up when I'm going to be working around or with the bees.

JP not only has long hair, but a beard as well!  Nearly his whole head is covered in hair!  His  videos look very realistic to me. (From Start To Finish) :cheesy:

In fact it is because of, and through his videos I gained information for doing my own cutouts to obtain bees.  Plus he is the one who suggested to me that I join a beeforum since I knew little about bees.; And why I am here at beemaster today.

But that's actually kind of the point I'm making.  JP is a professional with many, many years of experience, and his videos have high educational value and are sometimes 30 minutes long or more.  This girl has literally posted 4 videos on her channel in 4 years, and the rest is just shorts in which almost all of the process of the removal has been edited out for time so you can't really learn anything about the removal process anyway.  I did skim through her longest video and her proficiency with a larger colony looked dubious to me.  She had the homeowners sitting nearby on lawn chairs and they fled when one of them got stung.  When she removed the wall and exposed the colony and it was more than she had bargained for, she just stood there for a minute and some guy, who supposedly had no experience but she was letting help "against her better judgment", kind of stepped in and took over with the wall.  Nothing about her looked like she knew what she was doing in this moment, whereas JP exudes nothing but confidence.  Everything about this girl's videos are just entertainment, meant for people to consume in a minute or two and move on.  Which is fine, but it's not comparable to the value of JP's channel (which I really need to watch more of).

That one hit a nerve huh ha!

I'm not saying she doesn't get the job done, or shes bad at removals

I was looking more past that, into the impression and representation of the removal. She's a carbon copy of Erika Thompson. Nothing wrong with that, its just that all of the content is very selected and tailored for social media and views. Which again, not saying its a bad thing, they clearly make a lot of money doing it. Girl, long hair always down, zero ppe, skimpy shirts, never aggressive bees, etc. It appeals to the masses, but I can assure you thats unrealistic for Texas with the scoot' genetics running around down there. I don't have anything against her, just stating the fact that there is a lot of cherrypicking to make the content fit into a certain type of category. The videos are fun, I just get tired of social media bandwaggoning.
Now dirtrooster? That is some legit bee removal content, cool videos too.

Jim, I'm talking the overall tone of the removals, not instances where you don't have to wear PPE. I'm a licensed and insured commercial and residential bee removal pro here in the NoVA and DC region, and I typically do a lot of them without PPE also, if the bees are not stirred up. But sometimes they are, and sometimes downright aggressive. So I just respond to the bees accordingly.

Animal gave a few great examples of why her style is so popular

I have long hair too, and a full beard but I keep my hair up during removals  :cheesy:
I've got a commercial removal coming up and the local news is considering being on site for it, maybe I'll let it down for that one LOL

By the way JP is the man

just a "serious" .02

anyone taking bee bunny videos as serious instruction on removals or beekeeping, might need a sting or two to teach them otherwise.

maybe these gals are teaching the valuable lesson to not believe every thing you see (and like). That's what I'm going with anyway ..
So for all the babes posting ...

Keep it up ! ... Some of us see great value in your service to mankind!

My goodness, at least she is apparently a fellow beekeeper. I had no idea that this little video would be met with such criticism and controversy. A little entertainment from her, a fellow beekeeper to you was my goal. I don?t know the girl nor anything more about her than which is displayed in this. Video.

Honest question:
To be fair to her; Was y'all just as straight forward and critical in her comment section? Affording her the opportunity to answer your criticism and dislikes? If so maybe you might help her to be aware of details which might help her transition into making  the type of videos that would meet with your approval.

My first comment was centered in jest, if you re-read it I think you'll agree. We all know social media is tailored for clicks, so no biggie. Its America, she has a right to put content out into the public, the public has a right to express their opinion. No need for it to be more than that

I don't need her or her videos to meet with my approval.  She can do whatever she wants and that's fine.  It's just not the kind of thing I enjoy or think is valuable.  Other people are welcome to it.  I think if more people didn't say anything at all when they didn't have anything nice to say, YouTube would be a nicer place, so I'm certainly not going to go and complain in her comments section.  I'm just not going to watch her videos.

Speaking as a man that is straight and known to be a bit "forward" at times ... I see no reason to be critical in any comment on that which is displayed in this video.

My normal swarm removal attire. All my removal pics are too large to post, but the attire starts with a short sleeve shirt and most tines it comes off if the bees start to get under it.

Thanks iddee. Thumbs up.
My first removal, I like to have burnt up lol     even though it was a pleasant Spring Day it seemed summer was here once in action! lol . Second one, after the bees quit bumping the veil and black 9mm gloves, I chunked the jacket and veil to the side!

I found out that once I (broke the ice), the bees were confused and stinging no longer seemed to be their main goal (any longer). Sure I took a few stings, mostly from accidentally mashing them doing the removal.

As I mentioned before, Tim Durham works his bees in a pair of short pants and a rag tied around his head in the sultry Mississippi Delta. Tim is not trying to pull any stunts or impress anyone, and tries to teach what he has learned from a lifetime of experience. He also likes to be comfortable at the same time. Yes he takes a sting now and then as well. and will quickly say (ouch she got me). But he keeps on keeping on with whatever it is he is doing or teaching.

I feel I must also add; After TheHoneyPump told us about taking the sting (in the eyeball itself)  from then on, it's almost always at least a veil for me. 😁 I don't want to take a sting in the eyeball! lol  :cheesy:

You are right about them giving up once the brood comb is exposed. Most of my stings during a removal came from them getting under my clothes and getting mashed.

Auatin;
When I read your initial comment I realized this was not the girl that I thought she was. I thought she was the Texas bee girl.
I suppose being a beekeeper and watching a bee keeping video from time to time I get suggested videos which relate in the bee subject.

Reagan;
I did not mean to suggest that you needed this girl or her videos to meet with with your approval. I did make the suggestion while taking in consideration 'all the things' that you did not like about this video. My suggestion was not meant to be relayed to her in her comment section as 'not nice or rude comments' actually just the opposite; To help a fellow beekeeper (her) with 'constructive criticism', from one beekeeper to another, from you to her. If she is not high heady, she just might appreciate such 'if' presented in the right manner? Who knows? She might appreciate any 'constructive help' and eventually join us here at Beemaster!

Update: Again for fairness, for this young lady beekeepers sake, I mean to clear the air, as I feel a certain responsibility to this young beekeeper/beeremover if she is innocent of the 'charges' filled against her   since I am the one, by chance, who introduced her nice video here..

The young lady beekeeper did a mother video, which she 'foretold' at the end of the originally posted 'short' video in the OP. I decided to break down and have a look at that video "for myself"....  Im glad I did....
This removal consisted of not one, but two hives. The one in the OP and another.

The mother video; Titled: "Aggressive Bees Instant Regret" is a little over 7 minutes long. She 'did' warn of aggressive bees. She 'did' tell 'when and why' she put on her veil... (with her hair inside by the way).  She 'did' tell that she 'always' has her bee suit on 'standby and ready'. She 'did' warn of the possibility of Africanized bees in that area. She 'did' tell that she 'received stings' ...... and more....

For those who may not like her style... Thats fine.... In America we have that right and choice;
But Nothing fake about this girl from watching only 'half' of the mother video.
And again to be fair.  Her narrational skills might very well be considered educational to a newer beekeeper, or any beekeeper who might not know the basics of bee removal... IMHO

No one is filing charges against her, Phillip. I watched the same video you did, and I came away with a different opinion. I do not have anything against her personally, I just do not prefer the style of her videos. That's all.

Good Reagan, thanks for your clarification. I?m sure there are others who may not like her style either, It would be strange if all did.

On a positive; Her style in that short video of the OP may very well spark interest and attract new beekeepers to the hobby which might not have given the hobby a second thought otherwise . As mutual beekeepers I hope that we can agree on this positive prospective as good in that respect. 😊

A Rover series truck could be converted into a cool looking honey truck, imo. I've always liked those old nearly-bulletproof things from the '50s to the '70s. Don't care for the new ones... They're rare here, but ought to be some left down there .. if he's into that sort of thing.

As she proved! Didn't she do a swell job of getting it all together!!

Same here! I once had a 1950 chevy with the corner cab windows.

Old Chevys are cool too !
I was just thinking Rovers might be more plentiful and cheaper down there and the styling stayed basically the same for a lot of years.

Iconic to Americans that watched nature shows like "Wild Kingdom". If you say "truck", then say "Africa" or "Australia" ... that's what I think of.
