Title: Serious decline in flying insects.
Post by: little john on October 19, 2017, 05:27:55 am
An interesting display of human priorities was shown this morning (19th October 2017) in The Guardian newspaper, where the front page headline was concerned with the politics of Football (Soccer), and very much a secondary story was the dramatic decline in our flying insect population - entitled "Scientists tell of alarm at huge fall in flying insects".

This relates to research conducted in Germany (which is a whole lot 'greener' than Britain), and recently published in Plos.Org. "More than 75 percent decline over 27 years in total flying insect biomass in protected areas."  The work can be viewed in full at: http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0185809
