I built 3 swarm traps for the spring (mid-Atlantic area, USA). I have 30 acres of woodland that are surrounded by farmland and fallow fields with lots of wildflowers. I plan on bringing the newly (hopefully) caught hives to my other hives that are closer to my house (easy access to water; safety [electric fence]). The places I have picked to place the swarm traps are about 1/4 to 1/2 mile from their final home. Do I need to move the newly caught bees to a friend's house about 5 miles away for a week or 2 to keep the swam from returning to place where the trap was set initially? Thanks

I believe your assessment is correct. You will need to move them to a location farther away for a period of time. Put a trap at your friend?s house also. Spread your chances out.
