Title: dead bees
Post by: crispy on December 08, 2020, 10:25:14 pm
Hi all well have noticed over the time i have had my bees there are a certain amount who die every day can range between 3 to 20 , earlier i had an ant problem when using my top feeder and tried a lot of ways to get rid of them without a great deal of success .

Anyway now i am glad they are still around as they are the cleaners , when the bees die and get tossed out of the hive or are on there last legs the ants make quick work of cleaning them up ,i was watching them yesterday and there were about three bees that were still alive but must have been near the end of the game and the ants would actually chase them around then swarm them .

In one instance i watched as the ants hearded this bee in one direction and where another group were waiting and they actually ambushed it , at first i would see a number of dead bees on the ground but now there are none at all so where as i thought they were a pest they are a good addition to the well being of the hive natures a funny thing sometimes .
