Straw man

(1/3) > >>

Michael Bush:
A straw man walks into a bar
Bar tender asks "Why do you hate liquor stores?"

Ben Framed:
I admit, I just dint get it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Michael Bush:
"A straw man argument is a distorted (and weaker) version of another person's argument that can easily be refuted (e.g., when a teacher proposes that the class spend more time on math exercises, a parent complains that the teacher doesn't care about reading and writing)."  I.e. you argue what the other person hasn't even said rather than argue against what they actually said.

animal:
a red herring walks into a bar ..
but this joke isn't about that.

Ben Framed:
😊. thanks Mr Bush. This one reminds me of the scene in the very first Beverly hillbillies episode, where Jed was trying to decide if he wanted to leave the hills of Tennessee and move to Beverly Hills in California.

Mr. Clampett:
Can I afford a place like that?

Mr. Brewster:
Mr. Clampett, with your money, you can afford the Taj Mahal !

Mr. Clampett :
OK! I?ll take it!

Mr. Brewster :
Oh now, Mr. Clampett, I was just making a joke.

Mr. Clampett sincerely answers:
OK,;  go ahead .
