I was just thinking Rovers might be more plentiful and cheaper down there and the styling stayed basically the same for a lot of years.

Iconic to Americans that watched nature shows like "Wild Kingdom". If you say "truck", then say "Africa" or "Australia" ... that's what I think of.

I've always liked those old nearly-bulletproof things from the '50s to the '70s. Don't care for the new ones...
