Caputured a nice sized swarm yesterday
I was going to leave it in place in the hive box for a couple of days before moving it but the black ants have taken an interest in it. The tiny black sods are not covering it, just possibly scouts, but I know what these do to a sugar bowl and I don?t want the swarm to abscond so what?s your advice? Move the hive box tonight?
I have a low table I can place it on elsewhere. Do I place ice cream buckets under the legs with oil to stop the ants getting at the hive?

Hi Milo, all ants are a curse with hives, my hives are on steel stands with oil tins under the stand legs, works wonders.

Thanks Nico that?s what I was thinking
I just moved the hive and there are containers under the table legs with oil in them
