Fun swarm removal
« on: May 22, 2008, 10:58:56 pm »
Well so far they've all been fun, its like a treasure hunt with orphaned bees at the end of it.

This one today was further away than all the rest, due to traffic mainly - an hour each way. My bee control guy asked if I could help some city police with a swarm that attached itself to a barrier. So in honor of that they blocked off the street on both sides so that I could have allot of room to work with. The swarm wasn't that big, smaller than a soccer ball. I felt like a super hero! Swarmman - here to save the day!

I got to try out my swarm box from mannlake and it worked fantastic, i got home and put in 3 frames, because for now that swarm box is going to be their home. The most interesting thing about this one (other than the police escort) was the size of these bees - they were HUGE! This one drone looked as big as a bumble bee, bigger even! I'll put some pics up on our bee blog either tonight or tomorrow. Just wanted to share the story. 3 successful swarm calls out of 6 in the past 2 weeks. "I'm Lovin It!" -MickyD's
