2 Swarms And A Baby Raccoon---April 5, 2010
« on: April 05, 2010, 10:09:52 pm »
We'll start with the baby raccoon as I'm sure y'all can care less about the two swarms after seeing this adorable baby that was in my Dad's backyard by his fence crying and whimpering to no end.

I brought him to my favorite local pet shop, where I nursed him some with formula they had but the little tyke really just wants his momma. Nothing we could really do to placate him.

Mr. Maurice (whoever that is) will be coming by in the morning to pick him up. Apparently he is a rehabilitator. I wish him luck as this Lil guy sure is ornery. Oh well, did the best I could.

Apparently the baby was orphaned by its mother.

As for the swarms, the first one isn't bad and the queen is immense! Was in a ship yard.

The little swarm is the third one I've caught in this lady's yard in the past week. The parent hive is right across the street in a wooden column approximately 22' up.

Rick that was hysterical man! Thanks for sharing. I see the father in you came out when you asked him if he got bit. Rabies shots are nothing to laugh at!

Coons are cute and all when young,   but eventually they get big and mean and eat your chickens.  I trapped 24 in less than 12 months 3 years ago until I ran out of hens.   The boys hated to see me drive up at work with another raccoon to release, hehe.  I had 2 in one trap once.
