When bees move into A large space, they only have to protect the areas that have drawn comb. If you add a lot of drawn comb to a small hive, they have to waste too many bees to protect it and it seriously slows them down.
If that's the case, then the space shouldn't be an issue for this colony, since, if I understand correctly, they have no comb at all right now.  It seems to me like what they need is to just get drawing.

In most States, you have a right to reasonable use of water that flows through or is under your property ... apparently not in Oregon?

In Oregon water is owned by the people.  In theory, that's a good thing.  In reality, it is owned by the people but regulated by the state and feds.  Our biggest problems have come from federal mandates for things like keeping livestock out of rivers, or letting irrigation water flow down river for some inedible fish.

Do you believe they're all wrong?

Less about right and wrong and more about degrees.  I don't doubt for a moment that Oregon would love to control every drop of water we use.  Yes, they have proposed things like metering wells.  So far, we have stayed on top of them.  As for flying over properties, Google does that.  If I can't stop Google from taking pics of my place, I can't stop the state

It is something to be aware of.  This woman got caught in an existing law that many did no know about and had not been enforced much.  Now we know.

Calling what they have 'values' is being too kind.

The biggest problem with getting rid of these politicians is that the cities have more people than the rural areas do. They could care less about small farmers. Most of NY state wants to separate from NY city and some of their other cities for basically the same reason. They have different values than the city folks.

If you add a lot of drawn comb to a small hive, they have to waste too many bees to protect it and it seriously slows them down. In the wild , bees will move into a large cavity in a tree and start building from the top and work their way down as the hive grows. Here in North Florida, bees often build open air hives from tree branches or the underside of eaves. The size of the area around the hive is basically infinite. Yet they often thrive. I did an open air removal in May that according to the gate guard at the glass factory started as a swarm no bigger than my fist in March. That was a very cold spring that year and they called me because it was getting to bee bigger than a basketball.
I removed one open air hive that was on a branch high up in a tree that nobody knew was there until it got so heavy that it made the branch sag down to about 10 feet off the ground. It was three feet long and about 14? wide. Again the space it was in was basically infinite.

Definitely important to keep the pressure on. They only reversed course in enforcing the rule, didn't actuatlly get rid of it.

The bad news is that that was just the first attempt, they'll try again later.

To me it looks like.. Someone's trying to make. The acreage of small farms not so valuable... And possibly put in housing developments or golf courses or God knows What... This definitely is not about water.. It looks like it's about power and money...  Time to set voting. These crooks outhat. There are in politics...
