I have four hives. I know one was an Italian breed and the others were swarms caught. I am going to try a carni queen this coming year to see if they survive Michigan's winter better. I am assuming that I can requeen one of the hives with her with no problems but I was wondering if the breed in the hive is different will it cause problems of acceptance? I have searched with no success. Thanks.

Re-queening an Italian hive with a Carnolian should not be a problem. Just leave them queen less for at least 4 hours and they should be fine.
There are some combinations that are hard to do but these 2 are so close that it is not a problem.

Which ones would be hard combinations Jim?

African Bees are harder to requeen.
